Antisemitic Scandal. Legendary Lineker Comments on His Dismissal from BBC.

Legendary former footballer Gary Lineker is leaving BBC due to an antisemitic publication scandal
Sports commentator and former football player Gary Lineker will conduct his last broadcast of Match Of The Day on the BBC channel. The reason for his departure was an antisemitic publication that he reposted on social media.
“I would never intentionally repost anything antisemitic – it goes against all my beliefs. However, I acknowledge my mistake and the consequences it has led to, and I express my condolences once again. I now believe that stepping down is the responsible thing to do,” Lineker said.
Gary Lineker will also not be broadcasting the World Cup in 2026. He has previously caused scandals due to criticism of Israel's policies, but he remains one of the most famous sports commentators in Britain.
