Osan Air Base: The US increases the number of F-16 fighters in South Korea by 155%.

The American Air Force has announced the expansion of F-16 fighter presence at Osan Air Base in South Korea. A second 'super-squadron' will be created with 31 additional fighter jets, increasing the number of combat aircraft at the base by 155%. This is done to ensure combat readiness and operational efficiency in the region.
This decision is a response to the escalation of geopolitical tensions in the region and also serves as a strategic signal to China and Moscow. Osan Base is a key asset for the US and South Korea and plays an important role in the network of American bases in the Indo-Pacific region.
It is worth noting that along with the expansion of F-16 presence at Osan Base, A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft will be retired in January 2025. The establishment of additional F-16s is a manifestation of US support for its allies in the region, especially considering North Korea's missile tests and the increasing naval presence of China.
