Australia is preparing to establish a minimum age for entering social networks. This information was officially announced in the cabinet of Prime Minister Albanese. In particular, the official statement says that this year the Albanese government will introduce a law that will set the minimum age for access to social networks and other similar platforms. The main goal of this law is to protect children from online threats and support parents and guardians. Prime Minister Albanese emphasized that social media harms society and distracts children from real friends and real memories. He supported young Australians and all parents who protect their children. Announcing this move, Albanese noted that the safety and physical and mental health of young people is of great importance. Australia's Minister of Communications Rowland also supported this initiative, arguing that parents want real solutions, so they are taking a decisive step to encourage safe and positive use of the Internet by young people in education and life. For their part, Google and Australia's National Science Agency (CSIRO) announced a partnership aimed at developing software to protect the country's critical infrastructure from cyberattacks. Australia also plans to allow workers to ignore calls and messages from employers outside working hours, but this rule will not apply to emergency situations, such as emergency doctors and workers in other fields who need to be available 24/7.
