Banks tighten restrictions: what limitations await Ukrainians from June 1.

From June 1, 2025, Ukrainian banks will reduce the monthly limit for money transfers from 150,000 to 100,000 hryvnias. The new restriction will apply to all types of transfers - via bank cards and by IBAN number. Most banks have supported this initiative by signing an agreement to introduce the restrictions.
Clients who fall into the high-risk category already had stricter restrictions - for them, the limit remains at 50,000 hryvnias per month.
Exceptions to the new rules will be granted to those who can document their income, as well as individuals engaged in volunteer activities. For them, monthly limits will not apply.
History of Restrictions Introduction
From October 1, 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine set limits on transfers between cards at 150,000 hryvnias per month. However, this led to an increase in transfers through the IBAN system. Following agreements between the leading banks of the country in February 2025, limits were set at the same level, improving control over operations.
When the NBU's restrictions expired in April 2025, the banking agreements became their substitute. Another tightening is planned - reducing the limit to 100,000 hryvnias from June 1.
The gradual reduction of the limit for money transfers in Ukraine, starting from 150,000 hryvnias and ending with 100,000 hryvnias, aims to improve control and prevent unwanted financial operations. The new rules also provide exceptions for individuals with verified income and volunteer activities, allowing them to avoid monthly limitations.
