More than a thousand schools in Germany are without leaders – Deutsche Welle.

The problem of staff shortage in German schools is becoming increasingly relevant. According to survey results, more than a thousand principal positions remain vacant or are temporarily filled by individuals.
The highest number of vacancies for principal positions is in North Rhine-Westphalia. Officials attribute this situation to the overall shortage of teaching staff in Germany, which cannot be covered over the next few years.
Last year, there were 8,000 vacant teaching positions in North Rhine-Westphalia, while in Berlin there were 800. According to the head of the German Teachers' Association, the country needs between 32,000 and 40,000 teachers, which is much more than official statistics indicate.
Thus, the shortage of leaders in German schools is just one component of the overall problem of insufficient qualified personnel in the country. Some states have not yet provided exact information about the deficit.
On the other hand, Germany plans to introduce happiness education as a separate subject. One school has already included it in the program, where students discuss what is important for friendship and record the results of the discussions.
