Britain is prosecuting Bulgarian citizens suspected of espionage for Russia.

A case of espionage on behalf of Russia is being examined in London
The Central Criminal Court in London is hearing a case against Bulgarian citizens suspected of espionage on behalf of Russian secret services. This was reported by the BBC.
Prosecutors allege that the Bulgarians were monitoring an American military base in Germany and conducting surveillance on critics of the Russian government, including journalists Christo Grozev and Roman Dobrokhotov.
Two of the accused, Orlin Rusev and Bizer Dzhambazov, admitted their involvement in espionage activities. Also under trial are Katrin Ivanova, Vanya Gaberova, and Tikhomir Ivanchev.
According to prosecutors, this group was engaged in espionage on behalf of Russian secret services from 2020 to 2023. They collected information and conducted surveillance that could be useful for Russia.
According to investigators, this network operated both in the United Kingdom and in other European countries.
Suspicions surround the network's leader, Jan Marschalek, an Austrian citizen and former director of Wirecard. He is wanted in Germany on charges of fraud.
In 2020, Marschalek disappeared from Europe on a private jet that landed in Minsk. It is presumed that he was assisted in escaping by Russian intelligence.
Interestingly, a British citizen who committed arson on a London commercial property linked to Ukraine received money from foreign intelligence, according to Reuters.
