Strange phenomenon over Antarctica: Ukrainian researchers from Vernadsky showed photos.

Ukrainian polar explorers have again recorded a rare phenomenon - the southern polar aurora near the Vernadsky station. This is a very unusual phenomenon for Antarctica, which occurs only once in ten years. This is the second Time this year that polar explorers have been able to see such an aurora.
According to scientists, the last time the aurora was seen was about 10 years ago. This is due to the fact that the area of the "Vernadsky" station is located far from the southern magnetic pole and is often cloudy. To see the southern polar aurora, the sky needs to be clear.
In addition, the Earth's magnetic field must also be strongly disturbed, and it also needs to be at night, as the station is in the Arctic summer, when the night time lasts only a few months a year.
Recently, polar explorers recorded a magnetic storm of level K-7 and were able to see the southern polar aurora. This time it was visible to the naked eye, which makes it unique. Previously, such a phenomenon was only visible in photographs.
Ukrainian polar explorers have previously demonstrated unique photos of pink snow and videos of the Arctic night, when there is practically no twilight. It was also emphasized that last year the smallest amount of ice in the last 45 years was recorded in Antarctica, which can have a major impact on the climate and nature.
