Historical Shift of the Vatican's Course: The New Pope openly supported Ukraine in the war with Russia.

Pope Leo XIV called Zelensky regarding the fate of kidnapped Ukrainian children
The recently elected Pope Leo XIV made a phone call to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the situation related to the abduction of Ukrainian children by Russia. This conversation indicates a shift in the Vatican's position regarding the conflict in Ukraine, which has become more active and burdensome.
I spoke with Pope Leo XIV. It was our first conversation, but already very warm and truly substantive.
The previous Pope Francis avoided direct accusations against Moscow of aggression, whereas Leo XIV expresses support for Ukraine and calls for a swift end to the war. This position has been met with gratitude from both Ukrainians and the Catholic community in the country.
Zelensky confirmed that the meeting with the Pope discussed the fate of nearly 20,000 Ukrainian children taken by Russia to its territory. The president also proposed that Pope Leo visit Ukraine, which, according to Zelensky, could be a positive event for all Ukrainians.
Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire, but Russia remains steadfast
The President of Ukraine confirmed the readiness to adhere to the 30-day ceasefire proposed by Pope Leo XIV. However, Russia refused this initiative and proposed to hold talks in Istanbul. The European Union is preparing new sanctions in case Russia does not accept the terms of the ceasefire.
This news signals the joint efforts of Pope Leo XIV and the President of Ukraine in resolving the complex situation with the war in Ukraine and the fate of Ukrainian children, which requires urgent resolution.
