Kupiansk as a symbol of defeat and revenge: expert explains the invaders' obsession.

The occupiers continue efforts to advance towards the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. Their goal is linked to the desire for revenge for the occupation of this city in 2022. Kupiansk holds significant importance for the Russian invaders from an ideological standpoint," said national security expert Ivan Varchenko on the TV channel FREEDOM.
He explained: "Kupiansk is a target for the occupiers. It is located very close. Moreover, the Russian invaders remember how they seized this city. And, of course, they wish to return there to seek revenge and prove their superiority. Thus, this city holds great ideological significance that they would like to seize into their hands."
The expert recalled that since the fall of 2022, when Kupiansk was liberated by Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russians have not been able to advance significantly.
"The progress that the Russians have managed to make during this Time, considering all efforts, hardly justifies their stated losses. Although the occupiers are trying to continue to press in this direction to capture the city, they are not achieving significant results," the expert concluded.
