Interesting events related to the oil well

In 1907, the development of the well began, and in June 1908, there was an incredible oil blowout from a depth of over 1 km, making this object truly unique.

In July 1908, the well was struck by lightning, which caused the largest fire in European history known as 'Galician Vesuvius'. The fire took three weeks to extinguish.

Thanks to the extraction at this well, Boryslav became an important industrial center at the beginning of the 20th century, enhancing its international status.

The development of oil well No. 298 continued until 1947, after which the site was closed. It is now a historical landmark of the oil and gas industry of Lviv region.
