Cannot leave the Left Bank: Klitschko's office explains the 'transport collapse'.

Kyiv is experiencing serious transport problems during air alerts, especially with movement between the banks of the Dnieper. As a result, public transport and the metro stop operating, and movement across the Dnieper becomes impossible. This situation leads to a 'transport collapse' in the capital.
Metro trains immediately stop running on the Svito-shynsko-Brovarska line and the Southern Bridge crossing of the Syretsko-Pecherska line. Additionally, movement across the Darnytsky Bridge is allowed only in one direction.
A petition has been registered on the website of the Kyiv City State Administration, proposing to review transport restrictions during air alerts. The petition states that residents of the left bank and suburbs cannot get to work or the hospital for at least two hours after the alert ends.
In response, the Kyiv City State Administration pointed out that the air alert poses a real threat to people, so they need to be quickly evacuated to shelters and remain there until the alert ends. Public transport during alerts takes passengers to the nearest civil defense shelters. After the alert ends, travel is not charged again on routes.
Metro operators emphasize that they switch to shelter mode during air alerts. This leads to a buildup of passengers at stations and increases the interval between train operations. However, the city council stated that operational and organizational measures are being taken to restore train movement as quickly as possible after the alert.
Currently, the Kyiv City State Administration has not responded to the question of whether the decision to stop public transport and block movement on the Darnytsky Bridge during air alerts would be reviewed.
