Clarification from the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of Ukraine has determined which documents can be checked at checkpoints. According to its decision, drivers do not need to carry their driving licenses when passing through checkpoints as long as they do not violate traffic rules.
The court refers to the government resolution No. 1456, which precisely defines which documents must be checked at checkpoints. These include:
- Identity card
- Documents proving the right to use the vehicle
- Documents concerning the cargo
It was also stated that the police or military may only check certain documents, which do not include driving licenses. This decision aims to facilitate the interaction between road users and law enforcement agencies to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts at checkpoints.
The clarification from the Supreme Court of Ukraine regarding the documents that must be carried when passing through checkpoints will contribute to a clear and smooth verification process for road users, increase safety levels, and help prevent potential conflicts.Read also
