German newspaper analyzed the consequences of the loss of Vugledar.

The capture of Vugledar by Russia and its consequences are considered by the German newspaper Welt. For two and a half years, Russian troops made several attempts to seize the city but lost a lot of equipment and personnel. Eventually, the Russian occupiers captured the almost completely destroyed city, in which only hundreds of residents remained. It is noted that the benefit of capturing Vugledar for Russia is not obvious, and Ukraine's strategy also receives criticism. The author of the publication notes that the plan to make Putin more willing to negotiate by occupying Russian territories is not working currently.
Perhaps the Ukrainian side hopes that Russian troops will get bogged down in the mud of the Ukrainian steppes, and the coming months will show whether these expectations will come true. Meanwhile, the military leadership has withdrawn Defense Forces units from Vugledar.
