Broke into a house and stole a car — a soldier was tried in Odesa region.


A soldier from Odesa region, together with a friend, robbed someone else's property and appropriated the victim's car. The men were located and criminal proceedings were opened; the case was heard in the Shyryayiv district court.

Details of the case
The soldier from the village of Podiltsi in the Shyryayiv district, together with his accomplice, illegally entered someone else's house. The defendants appropriated a set of wrenches, electronic scales, a sugar grinder, a washing machine, a plasma TV, a stereo system, and a hydrophore. They loaded all this into the victim's Hyundai Elantra, which they started using the stolen keys, and drove away from the crime scene. The men were located and held accountable. The victim incurred damages of over 123 thousand hryvnias.
What the court decided
The defendants were found guilty under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft and appropriation of a vehicle). Both were sentenced to 5 years and 1 month of imprisonment.
