In the statement, PMC 'Wagner' noted that they 'destroyed thousands of militants and their commanders who terrorized the peaceful population' in Mali. The mercenaries also stated that they 'helped local patriots create a strong and disciplined army that can defend their land.'
In April 2025, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, during a meeting with his colleague from Mali, expressed Russia's readiness to enhance the country's combat capability and train local military and law enforcement. The training process, as well as who will be responsible for it, has not been specified by PMC 'Wagner'.
