A bill has been introduced in the US Senate that will allow the use of frozen Russian assets to help address the issues of abducted Ukrainian children. This was reported by the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk, on her Facebook.
Helping children with Russian assets
The bill provides for a number of measures, such as assisting in the investigation of abductions, providing medical, psychological, and legal support to the returned children, coordinating sanction lists, and the possibility of directing frozen assets for these purposes.
“I am grateful to the senators for this important legislative initiative aimed at directly supporting and reintegrating the children who have been returned. No less important is the practical assistance in identifying the abducted children and ensuring justice for all those involved in these crimes. I hope this law resonates with American lawmakers and is voted on in the US Congress.”
Also, it should be noted that in June, a 17-year-old boy who had found himself in occupation was returned to Ukraine, and in July, three teenagers who were also in occupation were returned.
