Telegram started cooperating with the investigation after Durov's arrest, – Liberation.

After the arrest of Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, the company began cooperating with the investigation in France. It began responding to law enforcement requests regarding several criminal investigations, including requests from the French National Police Juvenile Affairs Office and the Gendarmerie. According to media reports, the messenger provided information that could help identify suspects in crimes against children. The head of the Cybercrime Department in France, Johanna Brus, announced the opening of doors for further cooperation. Currently, the information is being disseminated among all prosecutors in France, who are calling to resume their investigations with Telegram's involvement, which were previously suspended. The Federal Prosecutor's Office of Belgium reported that Telegram has changed its position and has become more inclined to cooperate with the justice system.
Let us remind you that Pavel Durov was detained in Paris on suspicion of facilitating the distribution of child pornography. The investigation revealed that Telegram was used to distribute illegal content, including materials related to child pornography. Telegram's refusal to provide data on a user who confessed to crimes against children was one of the key points that led to the detention. The case against Pavel and his brother Nikolai Durov began in February 2024.
By the way, Putin spoke about his contacts with Durov.
