Trump sent a signal to Zelensky calling for peace talks, - El Pais.

Trump urged Zelensky to consider a ceasefire
US President Donald Trump invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to consider the possibility of a ceasefire, including a refusal of occupied territories, reports El Pais.
Trump expressed his doubts about returning the occupied territories due to the destruction of most cities on them. He emphasized that restoring these territories would be extremely difficult.
European sources reported that such signals from Trump are not negative. The US representative in Ukraine highly appreciated the new arms packages from the Biden administration and the permission to strike targets in Russia. Thus, Trump aims to achieve peace through strength to avoid looking weak.
Europeans are trying to explain to the future US president that a deal on favorable terms for Russia could strengthen the positions of China and Iran - enemies of the US. The Ukrainian government emphasizes the need to convey its messages to Trump immediately.
Zelensky previously expressed his fears about Putin and his inclination for killings. He also stated that European security guarantees are not sufficient. Nothing is known yet about possible negotiations and security guarantees.
