A historic joint half-marathon between humans and humanoid robots was held in Beijing. A total of 21 robots participated in the race. The first to cross the finish line was a robot named 'Tianjun Ultra', which completed the distance of 21.0975 km in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds. It finished nearly an hour ahead of its closest competitor. Overall, the best results among humans were shown by runners from Ethiopia. They managed to complete the marathon in 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 36 seconds (men) and 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 07 seconds (women). The running robot was developed at the Chinese National Robotics and Remote Control Center and has a maximum speed of 12 km/h. It maintained a speed of 7-8 km/h throughout the race. According to team representative Wei Jiasin, achieving such a result required overcoming challenges with structural stability, weight, and overheating of joints due to prolonged movement. The competition involved both robots and humans. All robots ran on separate lanes and had support. Each robot was allowed to change batteries during the competition. Despite the success of the robots, there are doubts about the advantages of humanoid robots over humans, as they still require some support and have speed limitations. The robot team plans to overcome these limitations and further improve the robot.Additionally, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has authorized the use of a new ground robotic complex. It has high functionality and can perform various tasks such as surveillance, patrolling, and providing fire support to Ukrainian units. The complex can also traverse rough terrain and shallow water obstacles. The operator can control it from long distances and remain safe.
