In Lviv, doctors saved a 10-month-old boy who swallowed a ring.

Doctors at the Lviv hospital 'Okhmatdyt' saved a 10-month-old boy who swallowed a toy ring. The parents noticed that their son had become restless, was experiencing constant drooling, breathing difficulties, and shortness of breath. They realized that the boy had swallowed a foreign object and immediately went to the hospital in Novohrad-Volynskyi. There, doctors performed an X-ray and saw the toy ring. The child was urgently taken to the Children's Medicine Center of the 'Okhmatdyt' hospital.
Pediatric surgeon Oleksandr Kolodiy stated that the child underwent surgery to remove the ring. The operation was successful, although the ring slightly damaged the esophagus. The next day, the boy started eating and drinking and was discharged home after examinations.
Doctors urged parents to pay attention to their children's behavior and to consult specialists immediately if there are any suspicions. They should not attempt to remove foreign objects themselves and should keep small items out of the child's reach.
