In Ukraine, a bill is being prepared to introduce a tax on parcels worth up to 150 euros.

Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Head of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev expressed his opinion on the need to cancel the provision exempting postal shipments from abroad worth up to 150 euros from VAT.
He made this statement during the event 'Dialogues with NV about the Future. Business and War.'
Hetmantsev believes that this benefit leads to inequality in taxation, negatively affecting domestic producers. According to him, Ukrainian entrepreneurs have to pay VAT, while foreign producers do not pay it when sending goods to Ukraine.
The deputy considers this situation unfair from a tax policy perspective. He believes that it harms the interests of those who create added value and pay taxes in Ukraine, for the benefit of unknown foreign producers.
Hetmantsev reported that the preparation of the corresponding bill is already being completed, which will be submitted to parliament in the near future. He acknowledged that this decision may cause discontent among part of the population but emphasized that the state 'is significantly late' with such a step.
It is worth noting that in 2022, the Verkhovna Rada already increased the duty-free import limit for parcels from abroad from 100 to 150 euros. It was previously planned to include changes regarding the taxation of postal shipments in the bill on raising taxes submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers in July 2024, but this provision was not included in the document adopted in the first reading on September 17.
