MIA warns of a new scam during winter
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced the appearance of a new scam scheme related to the preparation for the winter period. A recent case in Nikopol shows how criminals use the current needs of Ukrainians for their selfish purposes.
Nikopol police uncovered a fraudulent scheme where the perpetrator placed ads for the sale of nonexistent charging stations on social networks. The fraudsters demanded an advance payment of 5000 hryvnias and disappeared without providing the product. More than seven people suffered, paying money for non-existent devices.
On this fact, the suspect has already been charged. The MIA emphasizes that such fraudulent schemes may become more frequent during the winter season.
The police recommend citizens:
- Buy products only from verified online stores with real reviews.
- Be cautious of extremely low prices or exceptionally favorable conditions.
- Avoid prepayment and prefer payment upon receipt of the product.
Earlier, it was reported about fraudsters who disguise themselves as aid payments to deceive Ukrainians.
