President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that hostilities have been ongoing in Ukraine for more than 2.5 years. He believes that stopping strikes on energy infrastructure facilities could be the first step towards ending the active phase of the Ukrainian-Russian war.
According to the head of state, achieving results in the field of energy and freedom of navigation would be a signal that Russia may be ready to end the war.
Zelensky believes that if Kyiv and Moscow agree to stop strikes on infrastructure facilities, it will be a big step towards reducing the conflict.
"We saw during the first peace summit that a decision on energy security could be made. In other words, we do not attack their energy infrastructure, they do not attack ours. Can this lead to the end of the active phase of the war? I think so," the president noted.
Zelensky also reported that Ukraine is currently raising security guarantee issues during talks with Western partners, particularly NATO.
"We insist on security guarantees in all discussions, and the strongest of them is NATO," the president said.
