Budanov spoke about how long he plans to remain in the position of head of the GUR.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, announced his intention to stay in his position until the end of the war with Russia. Next month will mark five years of Budanov's tenure.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, does not plan to leave the position of head of the GUR while the war with Russia continues. He noted that as long as there is such a need, he will remain in his post. It is worth mentioning that this is already the fifth year of Budanov's work in this position.

'Right now my dream is to stop this war. Ukraine is a country of opportunities. In the future, I will decide what I want to do', Budanov stated.

After journalists reminded him that he has already held the position for 5 years, Budanov added: 'If I survive'.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate explained his statement, pointing out the risks associated with military service during the war. He mentioned a memorial on the grounds of the intelligence agency honoring those who died during special operations. In addition, Budanov expressed his belief in the possibility of ending the conflict between Ukraine and Russia by the end of 2025.

'Is it realistic to do this — yes. Is it difficult — no. At least three parties are needed for this — Ukraine, Russia, and the USA. And we will get to this', he summarized.

During the interview, the head of the GUR also emphasized that cooperation with Western intelligence services is very effective. The informational interaction with the USA regarding early detection of missile launches and satellite imagery is particularly important.

Furthermore, Budanov expressed hope for further military assistance from the USA, including a new supply of armaments, particularly air defense systems.

Budanov's expressed opinion on the possibility of ending the war with Russia and emphasis on cooperation with Western partners indicate that he hopes for a swift and peaceful resolution of the conflict, maintaining important ties with global intelligence structures. Currently, the war is ongoing in Ukraine, and Budanov at a responsible moment demonstrates his readiness to remain on the front line until the goal of peace is achieved.
